Donald Trump's former Butler, Anthony Senecal, has made headlines again. This time it's for a provocative facebook post that he made last week, calling for President Obama's death. Trump's campaign was quick to distance Sencal and his troubling post from Donald Trump.
Senecal, who worked for Trump from 1994 to 2009 and now works as the house historian for Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, wrote that Obama, "should have been taken out by our military and shot as an enemy agent in his first term!!!!!" This is not the first inciting post that Senecal has made.MOTHER JONES, who broke the story, pointed out several other posts including one where Senecal wrote, "I will help rid this America of the scum infested in its government--and if that means dragging that ball less dick head from the white mosque and hanging his scrawny ass from the portico--count me in !!!!!"
Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks released a statement on Senecal saying, "Anthony Senecal worked within the large staff at Mar-a-Lago from March 5, 1994, through May 15, 2009, until he was terminated. He has not been employed by Mar-a-Lago since then – approximately seven years ago. His statements regarding President Obama and his family are totally disavowed by Donald J. Trump and the Trump Organization. They are disgusting. Mr. Senecal is obviously a very troubled man."
Reverand's Irene Monroe and Emmett Price joined Boston Public Radio Monday for another edition of All Revved Up and to discuss Senecal's posts.
"I am not surprised by the kind of vitriol," said Monroe. Even though Trump's campaign immediately disavowed the former butler, Monroe finds it troubling that Senecal still has ties to Trump. "The interesting thing is that he didn’t go very far, he is the house historian," said Monroe.
Price says that Senecal's statements speak to the larger issue of racism that has continued to show itself in this country. "It goes to the fact that there is a huge population that is brewing in this country that are racist, that are openly racist and don’t have a qualm about it."
Senecal's words and his connection to Donald Trump will not have any impact on his constituents, says Monroe. "I’ve come to understand that there are some folks that you can’t change their perspective on it," she said.
