BOSTON (January 10, 2022) – High School Quiz Show® has revealed the competition bracket for Season 13of Boston public media producer GBH’s academic series. Seventeen Massachusetts high schools will go head-to-head in pursuit of the State Championship trophy. Emmy Award-winning radio personality Billy Costa will return to host the fast-paced tournament as teams of four square off in categories including math, history, science, literature, civics and current events. The new season of High School Quiz Show will premiere with the Wild Card match on Saturday, February 5 at 6pm ET on GBH 2 and on High School Quiz Show’s YouTube channel. New episodes air weekly through May 21.

Among the top 17 qualifiers are returning Season 9 champion Andover High School, Lexington High School, which took home the trophy in Seasons 7 and 8, and defending Season 12 champion Belmont High School. Three teams will make their High School Quiz Show debuts: Canton High School, Notre Dame Academy and Buckingham Browne & Nichols. Episodes will be taped using a unique and innovative hybrid model, with students competing remotely and Costa hosting from GBH studio in Brighton, MA.

The 15 teams with the highest scores from High School Quiz Show’s virtual Super Sunday qualifying event last November immediately earned spots in the competition bracket. The final spot in the bracket will be determined through the season premiere Wild Card showdown between the two teams with the next-highest scores that had not been previously featured on the show, or hadn’t competed in five or more years. This year those schools are Buckingham Browne & Nichols and Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.

High School Quiz Show is proud to welcome 17 exceptional schools from across the Commonwealth for a new season of rapid questioning and friendly competition,” said Executive Producer Hillary Wells. “We look forward to engaging with family and fans throughout the season as we come together in celebration of these students’ impressive academic knowledge.”
