Dick Pleasants, host of GBH folk music radio program Folk Heritage, passed away this week. He graced GBH’s airwaves, leading a devoted following of folk music fans through the diversity of the genre, featuring traditional and contemporary artists, bluegrass and American folk songs and more from 1978 – 2004.

Pleasants was a leading voice in the local and regional folk music community. His personal commitment to this genre led to the success of the program featuring a wide range of songwriters and musicians in live performances and interviews, including Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, Odetta, Patty Larkin and BeauSoleil. He will be missed.
