Local artist Karyn Alzayer recently put cages around Boston's famous “Make Way for Ducklings” statue to protest the government policy of separating immigrant children from their families at detention centers at the southern border.

Playwright, lyricist, actor and founder of the Gold Dust Orphans theatrical company Ryan Landry told Boston Public Radio Tuesday that he thought Alzayer's political statement and the way she used the statues were "beautiful."

"I thought it was a genius move," Landry said. "It think it’s great."

Landry joined BPR to talk about this and more.
