If you’re considering providing an inheritance to children and making a significant charitable gift through your estate, an excellent way to accomplish both objectives is through a “charitable lead trust.”

About the Charitable Lead Trust

The charitable lead trust is the reverse of a charitable remainder trust in that it provides current support to WGBH for a term of years, after which the assets plus any appreciation either revert to the donor or pass to a non-charitable beneficiary designated by the donor, with little or no gift or estate tax. A lead trust can be established with a gift of $500,000 or more.
