Susan Abulhawa

founder, Playgrounds for Palestine

Born to refugees of the Six-Day War, Susan Abulhawa lived in Kuwait, Jordan and East Jerusalem before moving to the United States as a teenager. She is the founder of Playgrounds for Palestine, an NGO that builds playgrounds in the Palestinian territories and refugee camps. Abulhawa has contributed essays to the *New York Daily News*, the *Chicago Tribune*, the *Christian Science Monitor*, and the *Philadelphia Inquirer*. *Mornings in Jenin* is her " richly detailed, beautiful, and resonant novel... an affecting and important story that succeeds as both literature and social commentary" (Publisher's Weekly, starred review).
