Stephanie Mills
fellow, Post Carbon Institute
Stephanie Mills burst on to the national scene in 1969 with her Mills College commencement address, “The Future is a Cruel Hoax.” Inspired by the work of Paul Ehrlich, Mills believed that overpopulation and resource exploitation were leading humanity towards disaster. She became an advocate for Planned Parenthood, then began a distinguished career as an environmental editor, author, and speaker. The forthcoming *On Gandhi’s Path* will be her seventh book. Mills is a longtime proponent of bioregionalism, which promotes locally sustainable economies and cultures, and a Fellow of the Post Carbon Institute.
