Sidney Blumenthal is the former assistant and senior adviser to President Bill Clinton, and senior adviser to Hillary Clinton. He has been a national staff reporter for \_The Washington Post\_, Washington editor and staff writer for \_The New Yorker\_, and senior writer for \_The New Republic\_, and he has contributed to numerous additional publications. His books include the bestselling \_The Clinton Wars\_ (2002), \_The Rise of the Counter-Establishment\_ (1986), and \_The Permanent Campaign\_ (1980). He was the executive producer of the Academy Award and Emmy-winning documentary \_Taxi to the Dark Side\_ (2007). Blumenthal is also the author of a multivolume biography of Abraham Lincoln; the first installation is \_A Self-Made Man: The Political Life of Abraham Lincoln, 1809-1949\_ (2016).
