Robert Kane

professor, philosophy, U of Texas, Austin

Robert Kane is Distinguished Teaching Professor of Philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of *Free Will and Values* (State University of New York Press, 1985), *Through the Moral Maze* (Paragon House Publishers, 1994), and *The Significance of Free Will* (Oxford University Press, 1996), which received the 1996 Robert W. Hamilton Faculty Book Award. His latest book is *A Contemporary Introduction to Free Will* (Oxford University Press, 2005), widely used in beginning philosophy classes. He is currently working on a book titled *Ethics and Aspiration: Ethical Reflections After Modernity*. He is a member of College of the Holy Cross Class of 1960.
