Da Zheng

associate professor, english, Suffolk University

A native of Shanghai, Da Zheng immigrated to the United States in 1986 to pursue graduate study at Boston University, from which he received his Ph.D. in English. He is an associate professor of English at Suffolk University and the author of *Chiang Yee: The Silent Traveller from the East*, a cultural biography of the painter, poet, scholar and exile, who was a literary fixture in the West during and after World War II, and of whom, the great art historian Ernst Gombrich praised, saying "[he is an artist] who tends to see what he paints rather than to paint what he sees."
