César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández

César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández is a scholar of migration who regularly weighs in on pressing public affairs. A tenured associate professor of law at the University of Denver, he has been publishing crimmigration.com since 2009. César’s academic interests center on crimmigration law. He has published scholarly articles in the California Law Review, UCLA Law Review, Boston University Law Review, BYU Law Review, Maryland Law Review, and Georgetown Immigration Law Journal, among others. His first book, Crimmigration Law, was published by the American Bar Association in 2015. His second book, Migrating to Prison: America’s Obsession with Locking Up Immigrants, will be released in December 2019 by The New Press. In addition to teaching a seminar on crimmigration law and policy, he teaches Immigration Law, Criminal Procedure, Torts, and an undergraduate course, Legal Actors and Institutions. He is currently serving his second consecutive one-year term as a member of the American Bar Association’s Commission on Immigration. César makes frequent public appearances discussing crimmigration law. His op-eds have been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, Newsweek, Salon, and La Opinión. He has presented his academic research on approximately 70 occasions since 2010 and regularly appears in news stories about immigration matters.
