In 1983, WGBH followed future Boston Mayor Tom Menino on his first campaign for Boston city council.
The documentary aired in 1984 as part of the documentary series called "Neighborhoods". The series got a behind the scenes look at how the Hyde Park native tried "to turn a lifetime of friendships into a seat on the city council".
Little did anyone know at the time that Menino would later go on to become the city's longest serving mayor.
