U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch (D - South Boston) plans to announce a run for U.S. Sen. John Kerry's Senate seat next week, according to a report in The Boston Globe.
The Globe is reporting that Lynch plans to announce next week after Kerry has been confirmed as U.S. Secretary of State.
Lynch would challenge U.S. Rep. Ed Markey (D - Malden) who has wrapped up the endorsements of Kerry and Vicki Kennedy.
Former Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is widely expected to run, but has yet to declare his intentions.
