In her book "Democracy Index," Yale law professor Heather Gerken writes, "The best evidence we have suggests that our election system is clunky at worst and dysfunctional at best. Ballots are discarded. Poll workers are poorly trained. Registration lists work badly. Lines can be too long. Machines malfunction. Partisan officials change the rules of the game to help themselves and hurt their enemies." Ouch.

So can you create a system that works better? Thankfully Gerken says you can. She joined Kara Miller today on BPR to discuss some of her her ideas for getting America's election system working again.
