Attorneys general from nearly half the states filed a briefing this week backing a challenge from the Department of Justice to the new abortion law in Texas, which effectively bans abortion after six weeks. Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, who led the coalition, joined Jim Braude on Greater Boston to discuss.

Healey said they are also fighting similar bans in Mississippi and South Carolina passed by conservative state legislatures. “Each day that goes by, Jim, women’s lives, their well-being are at risk,” she said. “They are being harmed both in Texas and outside of Texas in such profound ways that are obviously unconstitutional… this is having ripple effects that are profound.”
