It's a question former New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson addresses in her new book, Merchants of Truth: The Business of News and the Fight for Facts. Her book does a deep dive into the paths of two legacy papers – The New York Times and The Washington Post – and two digital-only sites – BuzzFeed and Vice – as they try to adapt.
Abramson joins Jim Braude to discuss the changing industry of journalism.
A New King Monument In The Boston Common
Martin Luther King Junior and Coretta Scott King will be memorialized in Boston. Over the past year and a half, the non-profit group "King Boston" has been narrowing down ideas for a monument to the iconic civil rights leaders. From five finalists, the design titled "The Embrace" by artist Hank Willis Thomas was chosen and will be installed in the Boston Common just a few miles from the Twelfth Baptist Church in Roxbury, where King was an assistant minister in the early 1950's.
Jim Braude is joined by the group's founder and co-chair Paul English along with a pastor from the Twelfth Baptist Church, Reverend Jeff Brown.
