President Donald Trump has made it clear that his closing argument in the 2018 midterms is pure, unabashed racism. In case there was any doubt about it, his most recent campaign ad, which ties a single murderer who is an undocumented immigrant to images of unidentified Hispanic people – presumably from the migrant caravan. The ad is reminiscent of the infamous Willie Horton ad run by Bush supporters in 1988. This latest push, echoed in many Republican Congressional races across the country, comes on top of Trump floating the idea of revoking the right to automatic citizenship for babies born in this country, and his announcement that he may send up to 15,000 troops to the border.
