Art Caplan walked us through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest guidelines on wearing masks outdoors. He also shared his thoughts on Alaska Airlines’ decision to ban Republican Alaska state Sen. Lora Reinbold from all flights after she didn’t comply with mask requirements. Caplan is director of the Division of Medical Ethics at the New York University School of Medicine.

He was instrumental in creating both the Massachusetts health-care reform and the Affordable Care Act. Dr. Abraar Karan updated us on India’s COVID-19 outbreak and talked about the lack of personal protective equipment and other medical supplies in the country. He also discussed the state of vaccine inequity around the world. Karan is an internal medicine physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He has worked in global health for the past 13 years in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
