The Boston Police Department and the Boston Police Patrolman’s Association reportedly knew about past union leader Patrick Rose Sr.’s alleged sexual abuse of multiple children for decades before finally arresting him in August 2020, according to a story published by The Boston Globe last weekend. On Monday, acting Mayor Kim Janey said she would release documents pertaining to the Rose case once the victims’ names were redacted, promising to shed light on questions that enraged residents and local officials who are now asking how Rose was able to remain within the ranks — and out of prison — for so long. Boston City Councilor Lydia Edwards joined Jim Braude to discuss.
