Supporters of a proposed ballot question that would allow for the recreational use in marijuana in Massachusetts say they will file the initiative with the state attorney general's office.
Under the proposal, adults 21 years of age and older would be allowed to possess up to one ounce of marijuana and also grow a "limited" amount of the drug in their home.
A group calling itself The Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol said in a statement that it would submit the initiative petition on Wednesday.
It would also allow for the licensing of marijuana retail outlets and cultivation facilities.
Supporters would have to clear several hurdles to get the question on the 2016 state ballot.
Massachusetts voters approved a 2012 question allowing for the use of marijuana for certain medical conditions.
