History has come alive here in Boston this week. Tuesday night, the oldest time capsule in the nation was opened, and WGBH News Arts Editor Jared Bowen was there for the big unveiling.

Pam Hatchfield, the head of objects conservation at the Museum of Fine Arts, and Michael Comeau, the executive director of the Massachusetts Archives and Commonwealth Museum, gave insight on what happens next with the time capsule.

The AmericanInstitute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Work has information about conservation and preserving cultural heritage, including family heirlooms.
