Boston College law professor and former district attorney Margaret McLean predicts that jury selection in the James 'Whitey" Bulger will last well into next week.

"Judge Casper is very intelligent, but she is slow," Mclean said Wednesday on Morning Edition with WGBH's Bob Seay. "She takes her time making sure she dots all the i's and crosses all the t's."

The final 12 who are chosen for the jury have their work cut out for them. They'll have to slog through Bulger's 700 page FBI informant file, a point McLean sees as central to Bulger's defense. McLean believes that Whitey's defense team will claim that Stephen "The Rifleman" Flemmi was the real rat.

"Whitey knows what he's doing," she said. "He's sitting there... he is calling the shots. And despite the 700 pages of documents, he's no rat."
