All eyes are now on Michelle Wu and Annissa Essaibi George, who advanced this week in the preliminary election for Boston’s open mayoral seat.

The race’s new dynamic assures that a woman will lead Boston for the first time. However, many have expressed dismay that in a city with a history of racism, none of the three Black candidates advanced beyond the preliminary.

GBH News brings viewers into the center of this dynamic and unfolding race as part of a new pop-up television series, Boston’s Race Into History.

Join Adam Reilly, the GBH political team, Boston Globe associate editor and opinion columnist Renee Graham and New York Times New England Bureau Chief Ellen Barry for an exploration of the Boston mayoral race in the context of the city’s fraught racial history. Caesar McDowell of the Center for Constructive Communication and MIT, and Ron Bell of Real Talk for Change will also be on the show.
