Wellesley College has given WGBH News' Callie Crossley, an alumna, its Achievement Award.
The awards are the highest honor given to Wellesley alumnae, according to the school, with winners chosen for “achievement and distinction in their fields.”
Crossley will pick up her award tonight at a reception at Wellesley College that is free, and open to the public.
Aside from Crossley, ’73, the 2013 winners include pediatric-fetal surgeon Diana Farmer, ’77, preservationist and philanthropist Barbara Lubin Goldsmith, ’53, and feminist scholar and cultural historian Marilyn Koenick Yalom ’54.
“A Wellesley education prepares students for success in the world, no matter the path they choose. This year’s Alumnae Achievement Award recipients represent success amid a wonderful diversity of experiences and disciplines,” said Wellesley President H. Kim Bottomly, in a statement. “By blazing trails and for their contributions to the world, Callie, Diana, Barbara and Marilyn exemplify Wellesley’s mission and values, and they are an inspiration to future generations of Wellesley women.”
Other recipients of the award include former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, ’69, screenwriter Nora Ephron, ’62, and journalist Cokie Roberts, ‘64.
