NPR Music stations recently reached out to musicians for home and field recordings of songs that will add to the national discussion of race and equality. The result is "Songs for Change," a playlist that's fueled by creativity and the belief that music has the power to bring us together and make help make positive changes in our communities.
Songs came in from all across the country, including from the Boston-based Camp Blood. "21 Shots" explicitly takes on the homelessness crisis in Boston, which is growing rapidly due to consistently rising home costs. "I wanted to portray the perspective of someone who had been thrown through the system and spit out on the other end," Camp Blood's Haasan Barclay says. "In Boston, a lot of them end up on the street, trapped in a cycle of disenfranchisement."
