The Benefits of Listing WGBH as a Charitable Beneficiary

Consider the advantages of leaving a portion of your retirement plan assets to WGBH. You can realize the full impact of your retirement funds, reduce the size of your taxable estate, and sustain the future of WGBH and public media through your gift of retirement assets.

Whether you have an IRA, a 401(k), or a 403(b), your retirement accounts are among the most tax burdened assets in your estate.

By listing WGBH as a charitable beneficiary, there are a number of benefits that you can enjoy:

  • Your assets won’t be included in your taxable estate.
  • You can continue to take withdrawals from your retirement account during your lifetime.
  • You can make a significant gift to WGBH that costs you nothing during your lifetime.
  • WGBH will receive the full value of the retirement assets you direct to us because it is 100% tax-free.

For many, this is one of the easiest ways to make a planned gift to WGBH.

How to List WGBH as a Charitable Beneficiary

Simply notify your plan administrator and complete the “Change of Beneficiary” form.

You’ll most likely need the following information to complete the form:

Our Legal Name: WGBH Educational Foundation
Our Tax ID: 04-2104397
Our Legal Address: One Guest Street, Boston, MA 02135

Please note, if you wish to restrict your gift to a certain WGBH series (Antiques Roadshow, American Experience, Frontline, Nova, or to the Masterpiece Trust), the Tax ID is the same as listed above. All you need to add is the specific restriction to the end of our legal name. For instance, to restrict your gift to Frontline, please list our name on your Change of Beneficiary Form as: WGBH Educational Foundation, to be restricted to the production of Frontline.
