In an extraordinary midterm election year, will Massachusetts voters deliver any stunning upsets on September 4?
A battle is underway in the Bay State for a number of typically safe seats, including secretary of the commonwealth and several state house races. But, the most fiercely contested primary, the 7th congressional district, has received national attention as a barometer for the direction of the Democratic Party. Will 20-year incumbent Rep. Michael Capuano, who has a solid progressive voting record, hang onto his seat? Or will Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley's message that Washington needs fresh voices with different perspectives break through with voters?
Our reporters will be on the ground following the candidates as the election unfolds. Follow along here for results, analysis, and updates from primary night.
