We’re living in a divided America, and as Republicans trade partisan attacks, members of the right and left are retreating further into their corners. The split is evident in President Donald Trump’s latest approval numbers. The latest Gallup poll found that 90 percent of Republicans approve of the job the president is doing, while another 10 percent of Democrats agree.

Author and historian Thomas Frank argues this divide is a long time in the making. In his latest book, "Rendezvous with Oblivion: Reports from a Sinking Society," Frank dissects a decade of relentless capitalism, and the wave of angry populism that drove the 2016 election — calling today's divide, "what a society looks like when the glue that holds it together starts to dissolve." He joined Jim Braude to discuss.
