Massachusetts is taking center stage in the debate over the criminalization of assisted suicide. Today marks the start of the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michelle Carter, whose chilling text messages three years ago arguably prompted her friend Conrad Roy III to kill himself. Also, late last week a trial court judge ruled that retired doctor Roger Kligler could proceed in his lawsuit against the state asking for the right to die and to spare those who assist from prosecution.  WGBH's Morning Edition host Bob Seay discussed these cases with Northeastern law professor and WGBH legal analyst Daniel Medwed.
