New Children’s Workbook Takes On Pandemic Mental Health Strains
For many children, the stress, anxiety and social isolation brought by the pandemic over the past year have been particularly difficult to navigate. A new book, ‘The Insanely Awesome Pandemic Playbook: A Humorous Mental Health Guide For Kids,’ helps young readers think about healthy coping mechanisms, and is accompanied by an educational guide for parents as teachers as well. It was co-written by Elizabeth Englander, a professor of psychology and the executive director of the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center at Bridgewater State University, and Katharine Covino, an assistant professor of English at Fitchburg State, who discussed the inspiration for their project.
