Cannabis Commission Chair Steven Hoffman Discusses The Delay In Recreational Pot Shops

It has been more than a year and a half since Massachusetts voters said "yes" to legalizing recreational marijuana.

The following month, in December 2016 — it became the law of the state: marijuana was legal to possess and smoke. But how, exactly, were you supposed to buy it?

Now here we are, approaching July 2018 asking the very same question, because — after no public hearing, and no public vote, lawmakers pushed back the retail licensing process by six months, to July 1. So will they open Sunday? The answer is no.

Steven Hoffman, chairman of the Cannabis Control Commission, joined Jim Braude to answer why and when.
