Boston-based Eastern Bank opened a new branch in Roxbury this week, the first new bank branch to open in the neighborhood in more than 20 years. According to a Boston Business Journal review of city data, as of last year, Roxbury was home to just three percent of the city's bank branches, despite having eight percent of the population.

Jim Braude was joined by Bob Rivers, the chairman and chief executive officer of Eastern Bank, and diversity activist Colette Phillips, CEO of Colette Phillips Communications, Inc. and a member of Eastern Bank's board of trustees, to discuss the implications of opening this new branch, in one of the most underbanked areas of the city.
