After years, or decades in the same industry, we accumulate lots of acquaintances: some real, some imagined. And for those of us in creative fields, they can come back to haunt you. That’s the case for Boston comedian Steve Sweeney, known as “the Character King.” In his new film, based loosely on his life, Sweeney gets his big break in Hollywood, with one catch: He has to cut the characters from his act. But when he takes them out, the characters strike back. The film is aptly named “Sweeney Killing Sweeney,” and it features a few other comedians from the Boston comedy scene, including Lenny Clarke, Dr. Jonathan Katz and Tony V.
Steve Sweeney joined Jim Braude ahead of the film’s premiere at the Boston Comedy Festival, along with a few of his famous characters.
