Attorney General Maura Healey said that she does not believe state money should be used to advertise on Boston sports radio station WEEI "until and unless they make some changes."
"I think you see [state agencies] pulling out already," Healey told Boston Public Radio Wednesday.
A number of advertisers, including the Massachusetts Health Connector and the Massachusetts State Lottery, pulled money from the station after host Christian Fauria mocked Tom Brady's agent, Don Yee, using a racially stereotyped accentlast week. Fauria wassuspended by the station for five days. WEEI has since announced it will suspend live programming on Friday so the entire staff can attend a mandatory sensitivity training.
"I think it is significant that you see a lot of advertisers pulling out and making a decision with their wallets right now, recognizing that there's a real movement on to take this out of the discourse," Healey said.
"There's so much to talk about when you're talking about sports. You don't need to be making comments in the course of that that are racist or derogatory towards women, towards minorities or the like," she added.
