The Grammy Awards will be held this Sunday in New York, and Boston's own Grammy-award-winning singer and musician Susan Tedeschi will be back.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band, named for Tedeschi and her husband, the virtuoso slide guitarist Derek Trucks, is nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album this year. The band already won that honor in 2012 for its album 'Revelator.'

Tedeschi was born in Boston, grew up in Norwell and went to the Berklee College of Music. She also comes from the family of the bygone Tedeschi convenience store chain.

Morning Edition's Joe Mathieu sat down with Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks when they came to Boston in December to perform at the Orpheum Theater . Talking backstage, they discussed what it was like to be back home, the balance between entertaining a crowd and promoting a particular worldview through music, and what it's like to tour the country in the current political climate.
