NPR Slingshot is our way of boosting emerging artists from “small clubs to the Tiny Desk Concerts” and beyond. It's a program we're proud to be a part of, and are fortunate enough to get to work with several of the chosen musicians including the 2018 NPR Slingshot Artist of the Year Dermot Kennedy. He stopped by WGBH’s Fraser Performance Studio on a blazing hot August afternoon last year to perform a powerfully intimate set featuring two songs on guitar and two on piano.

This year the program is focusing on a diverse celebration of artists who've been here all along, but are only now getting to be heard. We couldn't think of anyone more deserving than our very own Anjimile, and we couldn't be more thrilled that they have officially been chosen as an NPR Slingshot Artist to Watch for 2019!

Anjimile
G.G.B.

It's only been a few months since Anjimile blew us away with their unforgettable performance for Front Row Boston: Live at Fraser. They left audiences pensive and speechless during the intimate and soulful set, with haunting yet relatable lyrics reflecting on the joy and pain of their own life experiences.

In June 2018, Anjimile was named the winner of WBUR’s Favorite Massachusetts Entry to the Tiny Desk Contest 2018,and they ended the year a three-time nominee for the 2018 Boston Music Awards. But it was their performances at BAMSfest and the WERS Wicked Good Festival last year that sealed the deal for us. Anjimile's spiritual and melodic indie-pop sound, backed by incredible songwriting and a raw stage energy, solidified our belief that they were destined for success (and left us wanting more.)

With an abundance of raw talent and years of performing under their belt, Anjimile is about to make a serious ascent. Stay tuned for what’s coming next, and in the meantime, check out their mixtape release on Jan. 25 at Dorchester Art Project in Boston.
