Department Overview
The Media Systems Administrator supports the Public Media Management service (“PMM”), a service developed and offered through a joint venture of WGBH and Sony. PMM will offer clients the ability to prepare and distribute content, including video and audio, to any platform, whether web, mobile, broadcast, over-the-top, etc., through streamlined and automated processes. The Media Systems Administrator will support the integration process for new PMM clients along with proving tier 2 support for the PMM NOC.

Position Overview
The Media Systems Administrator works closely with the PMM project team, leading the commissioning and installation of servers, network gear & broadcast systems for new stations as well as supporting the system and networking infrastructure across the PMM system.

This individual will pre-commission equipment prior to deployment to customer sites, and travel to stations to oversee the installation and testing of new integrations or upgrades. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of virtualization and hyperconvergence along with implementing and administrating Windows, Linux and VMWare servers. Experience with enterprise LAN, WAN, VPN, and firewall configuration is preferred. Familiarity with broadcast systems favored but not required.

The Media Systems Administrator will work with the PMM Network Operations Center (“NOC”), providing tier 2 support on the systems at customer sites as well as at the NOC at WGBH, working closely with vendors, operators, and customers. The candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills and will responsible for documenting all commissioning and change management procedures.

Skills Required
Knowledge of deploying and maintaining virtual server infrastructure environments. Applies patches, updates and upgrades to servers, workstations and stored images. Experience troubleshooting and maintaining remote server and networking environments Experience with network implementation and administration Knowledge of film, video and audio formats, broadcast systems, digital encoding and compression formats/techniques preferred but not requiredStrong problem solving and troubleshooting skills Thorough organizational skills, provides detailed documentation around processes and change management Ability to travel for periods of time Excellent customer service skills

Educational Requirements
BA/BS preferred. Professional Certifications preferred. Cisco certification preferred.
