In the lead-up to primary elections in the gubernatorial, congressional, and Secretary of State races taking place in Massachusetts on Tuesday, September 4, WGBH News will host Debate Week—four days of interviews and debates on Greater Boston with host Jim Braude from Monday, August 13 through Thursday, August 17.

Debate Week kicks off on Monday, August 13 with an interview of Massachusetts GOP candidate Beth Lindstrom about her platform against current State Representative Geoff Diehl and businessman John Kingston. The three candidates are competing to run against US Senator Elizabeth Warren this fall. Geoff Diehl has agreed to participate in the debate only if John Kingston agrees to appear. Mr. Kingston has thus far not replied to email invitations.

The following evening, Tuesday, August 14, Boston City Councilor Josh Zakim will be interviewed about his platform for Massachusetts Secretary of State against incumbent Bill Galvin. Galvin, who has been in office for over two decades, has not yet replied to repeated invitations to join Zakim on Greater Boston.

On Wednesday, August 16, United States Representative Michael Capuano will face off against Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley in their heated competition to represent the Seventh Congressional District of Massachusetts. This race has drawn parallels to New York’s 14th congressional district primary race, which resulted in young Democratic candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated career politician and Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley.

Finally, on Thursday, August 16, Jim Braude will host the two Democratic gubernatorial candidates, Bob Massie and Jay Gonzalez, both vying to be the Democratic challenger to incumbent Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker this fall.
