Trinity Repertory Company

Jordan Butterfield, Educations Programs Manager and Teaching Artist at the Trinity Repertory Company, relates the transformative power of theater:
"I first felt the power of theater in second grade when I was cast as a cigarette in Pinocchio, Don’t Smoke that Cigarette. I was hooked (but not on nicotine!) Theater has the unique ability to transform, provoke, and teach like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. I see it every day in my acting classes for children on the autism spectrum who struggle to understand and be understood by the world around them. Performing, improvising and creating gives power to the powerless and a voice to the voiceless. Theater is the art of the people: living, breathing, feeling and ever-evolving."

201 Washington Street, Providence, RI, 02903
Since its founding in 1963 by Adrian Hall and a community of determined Rhode Islanders, Trinity Repertory Company (TRC) has been one of the most respected regional theaters in the country, presenting a balance of world premiere, contemporary, and classic works for an estimated annual audience of 120,000, performed by a permanent resident acting company. In its 49-year history, TRC has produced 58 world premieres, mounted national and international tours, and trained hundreds of new actors and directors through its MFA program, which joined with Brown University in 2002. TRC also has a long history of educational outreach, both through its 46-year-old Project Discovery, a pioneering program bringing public schools to the theater, and its in-school residencies that reach nearly 15,000 students annually. In 2006 Curt Columbus and Michael Gennaro, formerly of Steppenwolf in Chicago, took the helm of TRC as Artistic and Executive Directors, respectively.
