Fairy Tales
These links were found as we did research for the program Fairy Tales. We thought you might find them interesting too.The Endicott Studio was founded by Terri Windling as a creative center devoted to Modern Mythic Arts: literary, visual, and media art projects rooted in themes from folktales and myths. This wonderful site encludes original artwork, essays, poetry, photographs and links to other wonderful sites (including our own Sound & Spirit site!) The Endicott Studio is definitely a fascinating, beautiful, "must see" spot on the web. In The Endicott Studio Coffee House where "Friends of the Studio share their poetry" you will find two poems included in the Sound & Spirit "Fairytales" program, "Sonata" by Ellen Kushner, and "Snow White to the Prince" by Delia Sherman.
Dr. Kay E. Vandergrift, Professor in the School of Communication Information and Library Studies at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, has an immense Website devoted to her widely varied interests including Children's and Young Adult Literature, Gender and Culture, Women's Studies, and of particular interest to listeners of this Sound & Spirit program, a page devoted to Fairy Tales (including adult versions) and a fascinating Snow White site that includes a hypertext version of "Snow White" that connects to thirty-six alternative editions so you can see differences in the way the story has been told in different eras and cultures.
