Tour Ireland's Backroads and Byways, and Enjoy MusicFilled Evenings
May 26June 5, 2004
This trip has already occurred. See upcoming WGBH LearningTours.
From the lush Suir valley across the sweeping mountains of County Waterford, from the harbors and fishing villages of Cork and Kerry to the rugged landscape of the Burren and the Aran Islands, this trip was personally chosen by our hosts, Brian O'Donovan and Robbie O'Connell, to reflect the Ireland they know so well.
Highlights of the trip:
|
- A tour of the Caher Castle and a walk along the River Suir to the "Swiss Cottage", an early 19th-century cottage.
- The Mitchelstown Caves, where we'll sample their acoustics with a short concert
- The Jameson distillery in Middleton, where you'll see how Irish whiskey is made
- A walking tour of Kinsale
|
|
- Ferry ride to the Italian Gardens on Garinish Island
- A walk along the cliffs of Moher up to O'Brien's Tower
- Muckross House on the shores of Killarney's famed lakes in the heart of the Kerry mountains
- Thoor Ballylee, the home of William Butler Yeats
