WGBH Hometown Challenge
Share:

From August to December, we asked you to get involved in what we called the WGBH Hometown Challenge. It was a friendly competition amongst some of New England’s biggest public broadcasting fans to see which town has the most WGBH Sustainers.

The response was amazing. We heard from over 7,000 new Sustainers from 400 towns.

The Hometown Challenge Winner: Cambridge!

Honorable mentions go to...

Worcester Declaration

Worcester, where the Declaration of Independence was first publicly read to Massachusetts colonists in July 1776...

Citgo sign

Boston, where the famous Citgo sign’s neon tubing stretches over 5 miles in length...

Fig newtons

And Newton, the only town that can lay claim to the naming of the "Fig Newton." It wasn’t named after Isaac Newton, contrary to popular belief.

FINAL LEADERBOARD RANKING AS OF DEC. 31

1. Cambridge, MA
2. Worcester, MA
3. Boston, MA
4. Newton, MA
5. Brookline, MA
