Food Trip with Todd English
Tucson: La Comida Mexicana

Todd English Todd English learns to make tortillas in downtown Tucson, Ariz., and visits chef Carlotta Flores at El Charro Café to observe her preparation of carne seca, air-dried beef. After a conversation with chef Douglas Rodríguez about nuevo Latino cooking, Todd stops at Norma's Cakery for a tres leches cake to offer the hostess at a traditional family fiesta. Todd returns to the kitchen to create his own dish: a whole-wheat tortilla with carne seca "à la minute," with a quickly seared shrimp ceviche and a prickly pear margarita.
