The Tenth Inning
Conversation With Ken Burns

In 1994, filmmaker Ken Burns released Baseball—a sweeping 9-part documentary that tells the story of America's national pastime. To this day it stands as a high point in Burns' celebrated career and the most-watched program in PBS history. But the 16 years since Baseball’s release have been particularly eventful ones for America's game. And so Ken has made The Tenth Inning—a new four-hour documentary that examines those tumultuous years—including the 1994 players strike that led to the cancellation of the World Series, a widespread problem with performance enhancing drugs that saw some of the game's biggest stars hauled before Congress, and two world championships by a certain local ball club after an epic, 86-year, curse-riddled drought. Ken Burns—filmmaker and lifelong Red Sox fan— joins us.

The Baffler Is Back
The self-described “journal that blunts the cutting edge” is back in print after a two-year hiatus. The Baffler’s latest issue of scathing media, political and cultural criticism hits newsstands tomorrow. And no cow is sacred. (Not even the one that pays its bills).

Guests:
John Summers, editor of The Baffler
Thomas Frank, journalist and author of books like What’s The Matter With Kansas? and most recently, Pity The Billionaire. Founding editor of The Baffler
