Food Trucks Head For The Hub

Food Trucks Head For The Hub: Forget about old images of the ‘roach coach’.  Food trucks have gone gourmet and seriously upscale. As any recent traveler to Los Angeles will tell you, a cornucopia of food trucks offers a fantastic range of meals and dishes you used to only find in restaurants. But not so much in Boston — where most food trucks are currently banned. However, the city is currently working on new regulations that would allow more food trucks in Boston. Here to talk about that is Ron Sarni, co-owner of Food Truck Nation, who also runs a grilled cheese food truck, Boston City Councilor Salvatore LaMattina who has been working on the proposed ordinance to ease permitting on food trucks, and our own Adam Reilly joins us from Kendall Square where he is sampling the offerings of the “Momogoose’ food truck near MIT.

ABOUT THE EMILY ROONEY SHOW

Wednesday, March 14, 2012       Listen 897

The Great Back Bay Blackout
After a smoky electrical transformer fire knocked out power to about 21,000 homes and businesses, sections of the neighborhood are getting back online. But problems are expected to persist into tonight. We’ll have the latest.

Guests:
Garrett Quinn, WGBH contributor and author of the Less is More blog on Boston.com
Meg Mainzer-Cohen, president of the Back Bay Association
Marcia Gregg, a Back Bay resident who (along with her family) lost power (and still doesn’t have it)
David Jacobs, publisher and editor The Boston Courant, covers Back Bay, South End Beacon Hill and Fenway

The Baffler Is Back
The self-described “journal that blunts the cutting edge” is back in print after a two-year hiatus. The Baffler’s latest issue of scathing media, political and cultural criticism hits newsstands tomorrow. And no cow is sacred. (Not even the one that pays its bills).

Guests:
John Summers, editor of The Baffler
Thomas Frank, journalist and author of books like What’s The Matter With Kansas? and most recently, Pity The Billionaire. Founding editor of The Baffler
