Huntington Theatre Co. Stages ‘A Love Story For Grownups’
One generally refrains from mentioning a woman’s age - but we’ll make an exception here. At the age of 72, Cambridge resident Rosanna Yamagiwa Alfaro is having one of her plays staged in a major production for the first time. Presented by the Huntington Theatre Company, Before I Leave You – Alfaro says – is “a love story for grownups.” Based in Harvard Square, it’s about four longtime friends in their late fifties and early sixties, “on the cusp of old age,” facing “too much past and too little future.” Playwright Rosanna Yamagiwa Alfaro joins us to talk about the play and what the theme of age has to do with it.
