Week In Review
If you ever wondered why we need to be a two-papertown, you got an answer this week. It’s been a good old-fashioned food fight between The Boston Globe and Boston Herald over naming the tipster in the Whitey Bulger case. And that isn’t the only dirt in the news this week. From the manager popping painkillers and living out of a hotel to the star pitchers swilling beer and playing video games in the clubhouse while the season slipped away, it turns out the Red Sox could have their own reality show. Meanwhile, down at Dewey Square, despite the rain, Occupy Boston continues to occupy—but to what end? Boston Globe columnist Scot Lehigh, Boston Herald columnist Peter Gelzinis and WGBH’s Kara Miller weigh in on those stories and give their thumbs up thumbs down on bringing happy hour back, giving birth in an art gallery and other people and items in the news.

ABOUT THE EMILY ROONEY SHOW

Wednesday, March 14, 2012       Listen 897

The Great Back Bay Blackout
After a smoky electrical transformer fire knocked out power to about 21,000 homes and businesses, sections of the neighborhood are getting back online. But problems are expected to persist into tonight. We’ll have the latest.

Guests:
Garrett Quinn, WGBH contributor and author of the Less is More blog on Boston.com
Meg Mainzer-Cohen, president of the Back Bay Association
Marcia Gregg, a Back Bay resident who (along with her family) lost power (and still doesn’t have it)
David Jacobs, publisher and editor The Boston Courant, covers Back Bay, South End Beacon Hill and Fenway

The Baffler Is Back
The self-described “journal that blunts the cutting edge” is back in print after a two-year hiatus. The Baffler’s latest issue of scathing media, political and cultural criticism hits newsstands tomorrow. And no cow is sacred. (Not even the one that pays its bills).

Guests:
John Summers, editor of The Baffler
Thomas Frank, journalist and author of books like What’s The Matter With Kansas? and most recently, Pity The Billionaire. Founding editor of The Baffler
