Tolstoy and the Purple Chair: My Year of Magical Reading
Each of us deals with the loss of a loved one in a unique way – for some channel grief into their work, others into exercise, or travel. My next guest, Nina Sankovich, lost her sister to cancer in 2008 and began a project to honor her sister’s memory as well as cope with her own sense of loss. Every day for one year Nina read an entire book. She flew through Toni Morrison, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edith Wharton and, of course, Tolstoy – a project she recounts in her new novel, Tolstoy and the Purple Chair. Nina Sankovich joins me.
