Week In Review
Perseverance in the face of adversity seems to be the dominant theme in this week’s news cycle. Even as leading Democrats call for his ouster and his alleged X-rated photo turns up on the Internet, New York Congressman Anthony Weiner says he won’t quit. And, despite an unprecedented mass exodus in Newt Gingrich’s ranks, the former Speaker of the House says he's staying in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. A run of severe – downright devastating – weather has some feeling the effects of “disaster fatigue,” but as members of the “American Community,” do we have a responsibility to prop up our countrymen in need? Plus – we wish the original angry bird – Donald Duck – a happy birthday and mull the unique decision of leaving one’s fortune to a canine. We’re joined by Paul Kix, a senior editor at Boston Magazine; social critic and attorney Wendy Kaminer; and Boston Globe columnist Joanna Weiss.
