Political Round-Up – Twitter In 2012, DiMasi Trial & More
Republicans and DemocratsIn our media-obsessed culture, the latest technology has become inextricably linked to successful political campaigns. Just as JFK used television to secure his advantage in the 1960 presidential race, it’s widely believed that President Barack Obama’s victory in 2008 was due – at least in part – to a groundswell of support among the so-called “Facebook generation.” To be politically viable in this day and age – campaigns need to be masters of Web Blitzkrieg – everything from social networking sites, podcasting, mobile messaging, and more. We’ll look at how twitter – which was barely even a factor in 2008 – will change the game in 2012. To expand upon that – and lots more – we’re joined by Garrett Quinn, who is the author of the ‘Less is More’ blog on Boston.com and by Blue Mass Group co-founder David Kravitz.

ABOUT THE EMILY ROONEY SHOW

Wednesday, March 14, 2012       Listen 897

The Great Back Bay Blackout
After a smoky electrical transformer fire knocked out power to about 21,000 homes and businesses, sections of the neighborhood are getting back online. But problems are expected to persist into tonight. We’ll have the latest.

Guests:
Garrett Quinn, WGBH contributor and author of the Less is More blog on Boston.com
Meg Mainzer-Cohen, president of the Back Bay Association
Marcia Gregg, a Back Bay resident who (along with her family) lost power (and still doesn’t have it)
David Jacobs, publisher and editor The Boston Courant, covers Back Bay, South End Beacon Hill and Fenway

The Baffler Is Back
The self-described “journal that blunts the cutting edge” is back in print after a two-year hiatus. The Baffler’s latest issue of scathing media, political and cultural criticism hits newsstands tomorrow. And no cow is sacred. (Not even the one that pays its bills).

Guests:
John Summers, editor of The Baffler
Thomas Frank, journalist and author of books like What’s The Matter With Kansas? and most recently, Pity The Billionaire. Founding editor of The Baffler
